Change Leadership Programme

The Kairos Change Leadership Programme for Board & Senior Executives

The Change Leadership Programme provides a customisable sequence of activities, experiences and workshops on the critical issues relevant to senior leaders involved in business change.

The programme provides the opportunity for board and senior executives to develop the capability to:

  • adopt successful change leadership perspectives
  • avoid the common change failures
  • avoid the false hope of using programme and project management to create change
  • adopt change leadership behaviours and develop them in your team
  • understand and manage the impact of change on all those involved
  • use the 7C Model for Business Change to link the big picture to critical details
  • take a top-down, bottom approach to business design
  • develop an organisation’s structure and people as part of integrated design process
  • work as an effective change team to find key changes to deliver real competitive advantage

The programme provides structured experiential workshops that focus on developing the practical skills, understanding and perceptions necessary to lead change effectively - both for each individual executive and for the leadership group.

It also provides a range of audio/visual and reading material linked to a series of 1:1 and group coaching sessions to develop and maintain the high levels of change leadership capability necessary as the organisation prepares for and then engages with business change.

Programme workshops include topics on:

Change Strategies & the Business Change Cycle

Gain insight into the complex interactions involved in business change. Understand the unique aspects of your organisation, market and competitors and how it both affects your ability to, and your need to change. Map where you are, understanding what realistic options are available to move you forward and the hot spots that need to change fast.

Business Complexity & Change

Map how your organisation really works? Identify the critical points in your organisational model, structure, processes, technology, products, services and customer interactions. Select the key perceptions, frameworks, activities and measures that interact and depend upon each other - both now and during change. Identify the measures and metrics that enable you to link and drive change and business value effectively.

Business Change by Design & the 7C Model for Business Change

How a business model and design-based approach, associated design criteria and decision hierarchy make it easier for the organisation to change. Why an ad-hoc, purely bottom-up, middle-management-driven approach can’t work. Learn to use the 7C model to analyse the complexity in your organisation and then drive the changes required.

Change Leadership

How do different people react to the challenge of change and why? What characteristics and behaviours are needed to lead change effectively – and how do you adopt them? What are the range of change leadership roles available to managers at each level within the organisation. What changes in behaviour do you want to install and how can you achieve them? Experiment in a safe, dynamic and fast-learning environment - gain new insights on old problems.

Politics and Resistance to Business Change

What role does politics have in the change process? How and why does change resistance occur? How can you respond to and deal with it when it inevitably occurs? How do you deal with the dark side of politics in change? Is political behaviour necessary and inevitable? What if the political process were a key tool for making change happen? Explore how politics works with our new ‘The Politics of Change’ business game!

Defining Criteria Frameworks for Success

What is success? How would you know you’d got it? Is each change a one-off achievement or is this a capability you inherently want for the future?

Leading Change - Participation, Collaboration & Facilitation

What are the practicalities of leading change? What does it mean for you personally? Can you lead from the front and provide both the business content, social and personal leadership required? Do you instil trust? Will people follow you? Is this a challenge too far? What if you could impress yourself?

Answering the Challenges of Leading Change

Change is never plain sailing. Challenges will occur and decisions will be made that not everyone will agree with. As these variable and diverse challenges occur, the effective Change Leader is able to select the most appropriate responses. Explore the range of choices you have - are they all the responses available?

Leading Change as a Change Leadership Team

Business change is a group and team activity - at every level. Decisions made at every level affect the areas above and below it, even out into the marketplace and suppliers. Each group and team need to adopt and learn the skills and behaviours necessary to work effectively, manage differences constructively and to grow and develop a consensus that works for the individuals and for the organisation.

Each team must also learn how to work with and influence other teams to achieve common, supportable views, differing perspective and linked but differing priorities - a key challenge address by the Change Leadership Programme. Targeted versions of the CLP can be provided to key staff and teams involved in your change initiative.

The Change Leadership Programme is designed to be a complete solution in its own right. It is also designed to function with and form an integral part of the wider Kairos Real-World Business Change approach - in conjunction with:

Together, these tools, techniques and approaches - and the capabilities it will develop in your organisation - provide the best investment you can make for your business, both today and for the future.
